KPM the sole supplier of Consistency products
for Botnia’s pulp mill in Uruguay

Kajaani Process Measurements Ltd. (KPM) is the sole supplier of consistency transmitters and sampling devices
for Botnia’s Green Field pulp mill in Fray Bentos, Western Uruguay. This remarkable delivery is again a sign of the competitiveness of KPM’s products in large scale projects with high demands for overall performance and cost efficiency of the products.

Botnia’s project is the first major scale pulp mill in Uruguay and the biggest industrial investment in the history of the country. It will boost Uruguay's gross national product by around 1.6 per cent. The project is also the biggest private sector investment implemented by Finnish industry abroad.

The mill will produce one million t/a of eucalyptus pulp and cost approximately US$ 1 billion to build. Start-up is scheduled for the third quarter of the year 2007. KPM´s delivery is scheduled for August 2006.

The forest industry company Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab - marketing name Botnia - is the second biggest pulp manufacturer
in Europe. Botnia’s high quality bleached pulp grades, made from softwood, birch and aspen, are especially suitable for high quality printing and writing paper manufacturing. Botnia is part of Metsäliitto Corporation which is specialized in forestry products. Botnia is owned by Metsäliitto Corparation (53%) and UPM-Kymmene Oyj (47%). Botnia’s existing pulp mills are located in Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Rauma and Äänekoski, all in Finland and having several references of KPM’s products prior this delivery. In 2005 Botnia’s turnover was 947 MEur and the number of employees 1600.
